"When I examine a child, I see their entire development setting – their home, school, community, body, their parents’ characters, eating habits, the way they play, and how they communicate – so that my treatment is holistic and complete"

Michal Neve Or

We each have our story; this is my mine...

מיכל נווה אור

I’ve been a developmental (pediatric) physical therapist for over 30 years, and I’m a mother of four.

I treat children with development [H1] and pelvic floor issues.

I’m a specialist in child development and I hold a master's degree in group facilitation from Leslie University, Boston.

Over the years, and still today, I have worked in the public service in conjunction with seeing patients in my private clinic.

I believe I have found my calling and mission in treating, guiding and supporting, families and children, fulfilling their need for wellbeing, support and rehabilitation so that they may live a full and meaningful life.

My career began in child development centers in hospitals and health maintenance organizations, community infant clinics and disadvantaged neighborhoods programs. I immediately fell in love with the interaction and relationships generated with mothers, babies and children, and with the multi-disciplinary work that provided support and a personal touch.

Based on the experience and knowledge I acquired, I advocated for the establishment of a similar service in an HMO clinic in Tel Aviv where I worked.

After 15 years in this position, I went on to work at the Ministry of Education, in ordinary and special education, and provided treatment and support for children with motor difficulties. My services were provided at school in the children’s familiar environment, which facilitated their rehabilitation and made therapy more accessible, while providing guidance to staff and parents.

At the same time, I have worked for 6 years at an Early Childhood Center, where I established an early childhood physical therapy service which comprised diagnosis, screening and treatment of infants in close collaboration with the staff of the infants’ clinic and the development department.

I make sure to constantly expand my knowledge with university courses, classes and advanced training in the fields of medicine, child development, psychology, manual therapies, and pelvic floor rehabilitation in children; as well as alternative medicine – Reflexology and Shiatsu. I make it a point to stay up-to-date with the latest research, professional knowledge and tools from all over the world.

I have gained over 30 years of expertize in physical disabilities which I implement with children in ordinary and special education, in my clinic and through video calls.

Current global events and changes have had a great impact on various services including mine. I have naturally joined the global trend and specialized in  online consulting [m2] [H3] and treatments – online. This allows me to be available to anyone no matter where they live, provided they speak English (or Hebrew). I believe that even from a distance it is possible to support the improvement and rehabilitation of children through tailored parental guidance with proven success.

I greet each workday with great passion and love. To me, working with children means being a child myself in a way, and remembering that childhood is about laughter and enjoying life, which every child should be allowed to experience. Serving as a children’s therapist means to support them and connect with their parents, to assist them on this journey called parenting, which for them may be a little more demanding and challenging. To serve as a stepping-stone for children and parents so that they may grow and evolve in their path, achieve their goals and live their lives with a sense of freedom and happiness.
