Development Guidance and Therapy for Infants

Being a parent in this day and age is a complex endeavor – deciding and knowing what’s right for your child may be overwhelming at times. Our roles as  parents  are born together with our baby.

As parents, you want the best for your baby and wish to always know what is best for them. This new role comes with tremendous joy as well as equally intense concerns.

Worrying takes over as soon as something seems wrong, something doesn’t go as expected, or a healthcare professional, a friend, grandparent or parent shares their observation which doesn’t quite put you at ease.

Is this a familiar situation?

Do you struggle with questions like:

  • Why doesn’t my baby roll over yet?

  • What shall I do if my baby doesn’t like tummy time ?

  • When should my baby crawl?

  • Is it okay if my baby crawls asymmetrically?

  • What can I do to encourage walking?

  • Can I make my baby sit before she/he does it on her/his own?

  • If he/she stands up will he/she no longer crawl?

Then please contact me and I will make sure to answer all your questions and provide peace of mind.

Development physical therapy addresses various conditions such as:

  • Cervical asymmetry and skull flattening, torticollis, discrepancies between sides.

  • Motor delay due to muscle tone: hypotonia, hypertonia or over-flexibility of the joints.

  • Encouraging motor development and proper development: crawling, sitting and walking.

  • Congenital or acquired neurological and orthopedic conditions: cerebral palsy, myopathy.

  • Selecting mobility accessories.

  • Adapting the home and other environments.

  • Conditions following injuries, fractures and casts.

We were referred to you when Anna was less than 10 months old and had not yet crawled. You came to see us at home, and alleviated our concerns as new parents, efficiently, easily and quickly, and taught us several exercises, with genuine optimism and no drama. You even gave me tools (I have a bad back) for my own posture, and to support Anna while properly positioning my body. I loved the explanations of how to understand Anna's motor development myself. Very quickly, Anna progressed and went on to crawl on her belly, on all fours, grab objects and stand up! All in about a month.

In a very pleasant manner, you let us lead the process at a pace that felt right for us, and let us decide when it was time to stop when we felt that Anna had made satisfactory improvement.

I can never thank you enough for everything that you’ve done, and especially for that exquisite mix of kindness and expertise.
